Two wonderful things are blooming, one tended and hoped-over, and the other a surprise gift of Mother Nature.
The Obedient Plant is finally happy and blooming and clumping up a bit. If you look you’ll see two bees bumbling around in its flowers.
Late Boneset just appeared. It is the white flower in the foreground. It is big and sprawling, but it was totally inconspicuous until it leapt into being in July or so. And now it is covered with blossoms and every insect you can imagine.
Out front, under the apple tree, heuchera and white wood aster are taking up quietly with the hostas and look quite lovely.
The big bluestem I planted this spring has taken off, or at least this one plant has. I really like it – I can imagine this bed full of it filling in where the hostas now wither in the dry heat.
