Bird Feeder

Last winter I fed the birds on the back porch when snowcrete kept me from getting down to their usual spot. They made a mess, as they always do.

This spring sunflowers popped up all through the boxes that step down from the porch, rising up from the lettuce and kale and basil.

Today a pair of goldfinches showed up and started pulling the petals off the flowers and eating the soft, unripe seeds underneath.

Bird feeders, planted by the birds for themselves. I like that.
